Multiple mountune powered global wins

July saw the latest rounds take place across British and China Touring Cars plus Global, European, British and Irish Rally Cross, with yet again more mountune powered drivers taking to the podium.

BTCC ROUND 6 - Snetterton

Another round and another podium, or two, for Adrian Flux Subaru Racing with new comer, Ash Sutton in his mountune powered 2.0L Subaru Levorg.  Starting the Race 1 grid in third, Sutton battled his way to the front, making the most of errors made by others on the penultimate lap, taking his third win of the season.

Starting on pole for Race 2, Sutton saw another lights to flag victory this season, crossing the line by almost 3 seconds ahead, and at that point, sat at the top of the 2017 BTCC drivers’ table.  A collision in Race 3 saw Sutton strike a DNF, and he ends another successful weekend sitting in fourth in the overall standings with four rounds to go.

Team Shredded Wheat Racing front man, Mat Jackson also took to the podium twice this weekend in his mountune powered 2.0L Ford Focus, securing two Independent Race wins, currently sitting second in the Independent Drivers standings.  After adding more points to the board with Jackson's two fourth place finishes this weekend, Team Shredded Wheat Racing with DUO currently claim the top spot in the Independent Teams.

GRC ROUND 7 - Indianapolis

Indianapolis was the host of this months Global Rally Cross round, which proved a tougher challenge than previous ones for the mountune powered Honda Red Bull Team.  Sebastian Eriksson, Mitchell deJong and Oliver Eriksson took spots 4, 5 and 6 respectively in qualifying, however a mechanical issue during the semi final heats meant Dejong couldn't proceed to the final.

Oliver, attempting to claim his first ever podium finish, pushed his mountune powered / Oldsberg developed 2.0L 600-horsepower Honda Civic Coupe to a new level in the final race, enduring contact with opponents and walls, resulting in bringing home a career-best fourth-place finish, with teammate Sebastian finishing closely behind in sixth place.

CTCC ROUND 4 - Shanghai

The Changan Ford Racing Team were well aware that the final round was going to be their hardest yet this season following an increase of 50kg added to each moutnune powered 2.0L Ford Fiesta following their successes in previous rounds, proven in qualifying when just two top 10 qualifying spots were taken by Team Captain Rainey He and teammate, Andy Yan.

The notorious Shanghai Tianma Circuit offers little in the way of overtaking opportunities however Race 1 saw the drivers make progress from their starting positions, with Yan, Cao and He taking top 10 finishes.

Race 2 saw a restart after an aggressive launch by many resulted in a barrage of crashes within seconds of the start, responsible for 6 of the 19 cars on the track retiring, which unfortunately included Captain He.   The race went on and Cao and Yan battled for a podium place finish, which Yan clinched in the closing stages, securing the third step.

EUROPEAN RALLYX ROUND 3 – Sweden

July's European Rally Cross round saw four mountune-powered cars take to the track, with qualifying seeing some great results for all drivers.   JC RaceTecknik's Thomas Bryntesson, who secured the fastest lap in Q1 hit some bad luck at the starting line of the Semi Final and couldn't make the time back up, subsequently missing out on the final.

However, team mate Ola Froshaug achieved his goal of qualifying for the semi-finals in the competitive field, and despite heavy damage from contact in semi-final 2, he finished second to make it into the final for the first time, where, even with a broken driveshaft, the experienced driver finished fourth.

Irish Rallycross Champion Derek Tohill continued his run of strong 2017 performances in this months European Rally Cross event by setting top-three times and qualifying for the semi-finals.  Racing his mountune powered 600bhp Ford Fiesta Supercar amid the rain, the double FIA European Champion finished 6th on the track in Semi Final 1, and 11th overall for the Round 3 weekend.

mountune powered Mat Ohman also made a great start in the final to get himself up to into the top 3, before suffering damage at the first corner forcing him to retire, and being classified 6th in the final race.

BRITISH & IRISH RALLYX ROUND 4 | 5 – Ireland

This month also saw Derek Tohill compete in Rounds 4 & 5 of the British & Irish Rally Cross Championship, held in Mondello Park.  Saturday saw him start the race third on the grid and kept his position to take his place on the podium, echoed in Round 5 on Sunday where he started from 8th, and again took the third place podium step.  Tohill also participated in the Superfinal race on both days, challenging other Irish Rally Cross competitors to take the chequered flag both times.

Kevin Procter of Procters Motorsport started Round's 4 and 5 in 4th and 3rd place on the grid respectively, finishing in 5th position both times in his mountune powered 2.0L Ford Fiesta Supercar.

mountune
powered Oliver Bennett climbed the grid in Round 4, starting in 8th position to finish in 4th, and Round 5 saw him take pole position for the final race of the weekend, resulting in a second place podium finish.  Bennett currently sits in second on the championship leaderboard, just 3 points behind the leader.
